CogNeS is a full-time four-year programme in English dedicated to providing well-rounded training in social science and cognitive neuroscience

Mentorship and teamwork are key aspects of the programme: CogNeS combines individual tutoring with your PhD supervisor and teamwork in our labs.

The CogNeS programme merges multiple psychological investigations (social, cognitive) with neuroscientific research. We provide the advanced knowledge and technology required to pursue your PhD project and prepare you for work in multidisciplinary academic environments. The education programme complements skills that cannot be acquired individually, including data analysis, academic writing, and presentation skills.

The teaching language is English and classes will be conducted by Polish and international researchers in the form of intensive, weekly courses and individual consultations led by experts.

All CogNeS PhD students are allocated travel grants to cover conference fees and internships as well as a monthly scholarship of 1800 PLN.

A graduate of doctoral studies should have knowledge in the field of social sciences and mastery of the research workshop, including the ability to analyse and interpret experimental data. The four-year study period should be concluded with the defence of a doctoral dissertation. The PhD student should demonstrate proficiency in solving scientific problems, correct data analysis, discussing results and the ability to formulate conclusions.

Project’s mail goal is to create and implement high quality international studies in the field of social-cognitive sciences for 20 students at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University (2018-2020).

Project effects will be measured by:

  • a total number of graduates of doctoral programs co-financed from ESF funds
  • a total number of students who improved their competences in the field of cognitive-social-neuroscience and methodology of science through participation in courses launched as a part of the CogNeS programme in 2018/2019;
